Did you know? All the events during the 2019 NCAA Final Four weekend are within one mile of each other. That means, whether you’re roaming through the intricate skyway system of downtown Minneapolis or sticking to the streets, getting around will be a breeze!

From riding Metro Transit, to grabbing a free ride from Buick, and everything in-between – here’s how to navigate the Final Four Festivities.

LIGHT RAIL


The METRO Blue Line is the best way to get from Minneapolis – Saint Paul International Airport to downtown Minneapolis. Metro Transit provides quick and easy access to Final Four events with METRO light rail service along 5th Street.

Basketball fans be sure to exit the light rail at Government Plaza Station for access to the U.S. Bank Stadium. To avoid lines leaving games, purchase an All-Day Pass before heading downtown.

Fares

Download the Metro Transit app to buy fares right from your smartphone! Available from the App Store or Google Play. Fares are $2.50 for adults during rush hours (M-F 6-9 a.m. & 3-6:30 p.m.) On weekends and outside rush hours, adult fares are $2. Reduced fares for age and disability. Fares include 2 ½ hours of ride time. Details at metrotransit.org/fares.

  • All-Day Pass: $1 – $5, varies by time of day/day of the week. Get an All-Day Pass for unlimited rides on buses and light rail from time of purchase through 2 a.m. the next day. No waiting in line to buy a return ticket! Available from the Metro Transit app or at rail station ticket machines.
  • Downtown Zone: Ride buses and light rail within the Downtown Zone for just 50¢. Transfers are not available with this fare.

SKYWAY SYSTEM


Stay warm going to and from Final Four events using the Minneapolis Skyway system. The Skyways in downtown Minneapolis offer a heated indoor alternative travel alternative.

The Skyway system is 9.5 miles of continuously connected walkways on the second level of downtown Minneapolis buildings, offering a way to cross streets while staying indoors. The origins of the skyway system date back to the 1960s, and since then they have continued to expand to a point where today you can walk continuously from the Minneapolis Convention Center to the Mississippi Riverfront without leaving the system.   • April 5: 6:30 am-11 pm
  • April 6: 7 am-1 am
  • April 7: 7 am-9 pm
  • April 8: 6:30 am-1 am

GRAB-A-BUICK FREE RIDES

Buick will run a complementary Fan Shuttle throughout the duration of Final Four Festivities in Minneapolis.

Fans can “Grab A Buick” at the following hub locations:

  • 4th and Portland (US Bank Stadium)
  • Convention Center
  • JW Marriott Mall of America

Fans staying at select Marriott hotels can also utilize a text-dispatch system to request “Grab A Buick”:

  • Children must be 57 inches or taller and over 80 pounds to ride in the vehicle
  • Children must be 8 years or older to ride in the vehicle
  • Children must be able to site all the way back in the seta with their knees bent comfortably at the edge of the vehicle seat cushion
  • This is not a ride and drive event so consumers must never drive the vehicles themselves
  • Message and data rates apply when utilizing the text-dispatch system

A: It’s like hailing a cab, first come-first served, except its FREE!  There are 3 main “hub” locations in/around downtown Minneapolis including 4th Street and Portland near US Bank Stadium, The Minneapolis Convention Center and the JW Mall of America.  You can also flag down any Grab A Buick you see to get picked up on the spot if that vehicle is available and not servicing another customer.

A: No, GAB is a free fan shuttle to help fans of the Final Four experience everything Minneapolis has to offer, as well as providing them an opportunity to experience the new Buick lineup.

A: GAB will only drop fans at businesses, and public places, but will not take to personal residences

Ride Share drop off and pick up options will be available throughout downtown. They will be located:

  • on Nicollet between 9th Street and LaSalle
